  • What if it rains?
We jump in puddles! The children wear appropriate clothing so they are warm and dry - we provide a kit list with the Registration Pack and a set of waterproofs as part of the Registration Fee. The tree canopy provides natural shelter and we put up tarpaulins to give added protection if required.
  • What if my child needs to nap?
We make time throughout the day for children to sit, chat and relax as they want to. We also have hammocks and shelters available for children who want to sleep along with sleeping bags and blankets for colder days.
  • What if my child needs the toilet? Does my child need to be toilet trained?
We use a portable camping toilet wihin a privacy tent, we also have a hand wash station. We have a changing tent for children in nappies or if "toilet accidents" occur. Children do not need to be toilet trained to attend.
  • How will you keep my child safe?
Safety is a top priority at Sutton outdoor Preschool. We have a high ratio of 1 adult to 4 children and all of our staff have undergone enhanced Disclosure and Barring System checks (DBS). Before the children arrive our team carry out a safety sweep and risk assess the area. On arrival the children complete their own Safety Walk - always a popular activity! We encourage the children to be aware of any risks and ways they can keep themselves and their friends safe. We adapt our activities depending on the weather - in high winds we move to open areas of the park, if it is particularly wet or cold we put up shelters and do physical activites to stay warm and if it is hot we play in the shade.
  • How much does it cost?
We have a one-off, non-refundable £100 registration fee which includes a set of Didrikson's waterproofs for your child to keep and access to an online Learning Journal. Session fees are £45 per day. Fees are payable monthly.
  • Do you offer Funded Hours?
Yes we do. All 3 and 4 year old children can access 570 hours of entitlement hours funded by the Government from the term after their third birthday. Sutton Outdoor Preschool offers this across the school term as 15 hours a week over 38 weeks. Eligible children can access 5 funded hours per day. A maximum of 5 funded hours can be used for each sessional day, meaning one hour a day is chargeable. The additional charge reflects the extra costs associated with our ratios of 1:4 adults for all age phases, the specialist training of our team and the enhanced educational programme we deliver.
  • What will my child need?
On registration we will provide you with a kit list. Your child will need to bring a packed lunch, including a mid-morning snack and drink. They will need to wear sturdy boots and layers (depending on the weather). They will need to wear or bring the Didriksons Waterproofs they are given as part of the registration. They will need to bring spare clothes in a holdall. If your child is in nappies, you will need to provide wipes, nappies etc. We have drinking water available at all times.
  • When can my child start? How do I enroll my child? Can I come and visit?
We can accept children from the age of two years, younger children can be placed on the waiting list. We encourage all interested families to visit our setting, meet the team and discuss their requirements. Please contact us if you would like to arrange a visit or find out more.
